What Are Shrink Sleeve Labels?

Shrink sleeve labels are printed plastic sleeves that contract around a container when heat is applied. Unlike conventional pressure-sensitive labels, a shrink sleeve can cover a large part of the package and conform to curved, tapered or irregular surfaces.

This gives brands more printable space for product graphics, ingredient information, instructions, barcodes and multilingual content. Shrink sleeves can also help create a consistent appearance across a product family with different container shapes or SKU sizes.

Common applications include:

  • Beverage and water bottles
  • Dairy and functional drink containers
  • Sauces, condiments and food jars
  • Shampoo, body wash and household-cleaning bottles
  • Cosmetics and personal-care packaging
  • Supplements and healthcare containers
  • Promotional packs and seasonal editions

Custom Shrink Sleeve Solutions

Full-Body Shrink Sleeves

Full-body sleeves provide extensive decoration from the shoulder to the lower part of the container. They are suitable for brands that need strong shelf impact, 360-degree graphics or coverage across complex bottle shapes.

Partial Shrink Sleeves

Partial sleeves cover a selected area of the container. They can be used when part of the bottle should remain visible or when the design does not require full-height coverage.

Tamper-Evident Shrink Bands

Shrink bands can be applied around caps, lids or closures to provide visible evidence that a package has been opened. The band dimensions and perforation requirements should be confirmed using the actual container and closure.

Multi-SKU Product Ranges

If several products use compatible sleeve dimensions, materials and finishing requirements, provide the quantity for each artwork. We can review the full SKU plan and recommend a practical printing route.

Shrink Film Material Options

The correct material depends on the container geometry, required shrink performance, application equipment, storage conditions and destination-market requirements.

PET Shrink Sleeve Labels

PET shrink film is available for custom sleeve projects. The final film grade and thickness should be selected after reviewing the bottle shape, required shrink performance and application process.

PVC Shrink Sleeve Labels

PVC film is used for many general shrink sleeve applications. Suitability depends on the container shape, performance requirement and applicable environmental or market standards.

OPS Shrink Sleeve Labels

OPS film is also available. Its suitability should be evaluated according to the container, required shrink behavior, storage conditions and application equipment.

Film thickness is selected according to the material grade, container shape, required shrink performance and application equipment. Please provide your existing specification if a particular thickness is required.

Printing and Finishing Options

Haosen Packaging currently presents gravure and digital printing capabilities. The appropriate method is selected according to artwork complexity, quantity, number of SKUs, color requirements and repeat-order plan.

Project options may include:

  • Full-color custom printing
  • Opaque white where required by the design
  • Matte, gloss or holographic appearance, subject to specification review
  • Reverse printing to help protect the printed surface
  • Sleeve seaming and slitting
  • Individual cut sleeves or roll supply
  • Vent holes where required by the application
  • Easy-tear perforation for opening or tamper-evident applications

Artwork should include the correct dimensions, bleed, seam area, barcode placement and distortion allowance. If the container has strong curves, a physical fit test can help confirm alignment before production.

From Artwork to Finished Shrink Sleeves

1. Project Review

We review the container, target sleeve coverage, measurements, artwork status, order quantity, delivery format and destination.

2. Material and Process Selection

The film, printing method and finishing route are evaluated according to the application and commercial requirements.

3. Artwork and Prepress Check

The file is checked for dimensions, print content, colors, barcode position, seam area and distortion requirements.

4. Sampling or Proof Approval

The appropriate proof or sample method is confirmed for the project. A digital proof, blank fit sample and printed prototype serve different purposes and should not be treated as the same approval stage.

5. Printing and Converting

After approval, the job proceeds through printing and the required downstream operations, which may include slitting, seaming, cutting and perforation.

6. Inspection and Packing

Finished sleeves are inspected according to the approved specification and packed in the agreed delivery format.

Quality Points We Review

Shrink sleeve quality involves more than print appearance. Important review points include:

  • Sleeve dimensions and tolerance
  • Film identification and thickness
  • Print clarity and color consistency
  • Seam position and seam strength
  • Cutting and roll quality
  • Barcode readability where applicable
  • Artwork orientation and registration
  • Shrink fit on the intended container
  • Packing quantity and carton identification

For highly contoured containers, testing on the actual bottle and intended shrink equipment is recommended because shrink behavior can vary with container geometry and application conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the MOQ for custom shrink sleeve labels?

We support small custom orders, and larger quantities receive more competitive pricing. The exact MOQ is evaluated for each project because it depends on the printing method, film specification, sleeve size, artwork count and finishing format. Send the required quantity for every SKU so we can recommend a suitable production plan.

Which material should I choose, PET, PVC or OPS?

The choice depends on the container shape, required shrink performance, application conditions and destination-market requirements. Container photos, dimensions and a physical sample help us evaluate the application.

Can I receive a sample before mass production?

Digital sampling and gravure press sampling are available. Depending on the project, the typical sample charge is USD 100–400 and the sample lead time is approximately 3–8 days. The selected method should match whether you need to review artwork, print appearance, fit or production performance.

How do I measure my container?

The key sleeve dimensions are normally layflat width and cut height, but the container shape and desired coverage must also be considered. Use our container measurement guide or send a physical sample for review.

Can multiple designs be included in one order?

Yes, multiple designs can be reviewed together. However, MOQ and pricing may apply per artwork or SKU. Designs with compatible dimensions, film and finishing specifications may be easier to plan efficiently.

Can shrink sleeves be supplied in rolls or as individual pieces?

Yes. Shrink sleeves can be supplied in rolls or as individual cut pieces. Confirm the required roll direction, core specification or individual-piece packing before quotation.

What artwork files should I provide?

Editable vector artwork is preferred. The file should include fonts or outlined text, linked images, color references, barcode requirements, bleed and the approved sleeve dimensions.

Do you provide shrink application services?

Yes. Haosen Packaging can provide sleeve application and heat-shrinking services. Please send the container, sleeve specification, quantity and packing requirements so the complete service scope can be confirmed.

What is the standard production lead time?

Standard production lead time is approximately 10–15 days after the specification, artwork and required approvals are completed. The confirmed schedule depends on order quantity, production process and current capacity.

Can you provide certificates and test reports?

Yes. Available certificates or test reports can be provided according to the project and may be published after the exact document names, scope and validity are confirmed.
