Shrink Sleeve Guides

What Information Is Needed for a Custom Shrink Sleeve Label Quote?

To prepare a useful custom shrink sleeve label quote, a supplier needs more than a bottle capacity and an estimated quantity. Container dimensions, label coverage, artwork status and packing requirements all affect the recommended construction and production plan.

This checklist explains what to send Haosen Packaging for an initial review and what may still need confirmation before a final quotation.

Quick Checklist for a Custom Shrink Sleeve Label Quote

  • Clear photographs of the complete container
  • Container drawing or measured dimensions in millimetres
  • Required label coverage: full-body, partial or another defined area
  • Order quantity for every size and artwork version
  • Artwork, dieline or a reference design, if available
  • Preferred film or information about the application
  • Manual or automatic sleeve application method
  • Destination country and required timing
  • Whether a sample or fit test is required

If some information is unavailable, send the completed items first. We can identify what is still needed after reviewing your container and intended application.

1. Container Photos and Dimensions

Send clear front, back, side, top and bottom photographs of the container. Include the cap, pump, shoulder, base and any raised or recessed areas that may affect how the sleeve fits.

Provide a technical drawing when possible. If you are measuring the container yourself, use millimetres and identify:

  • overall height, including the cap or pump;
  • maximum width or diameter;
  • the top and bottom positions of the required sleeve;
  • the circumference at important changes in shape;
  • any unusual curves, handles, necks or tapered sections.

Capacity alone is not enough. Two bottles with the same volume can have different shapes and require different sleeve dimensions. See our guide on how to measure a container for shrink sleeve labels.

2. Required Sleeve Coverage

Confirm which parts of the container should be covered. A full-body shrink sleeve can cover most of the visible body, while a partial shrink sleeve covers a selected section.

Mark the intended upper and lower sleeve edges on a photograph or drawing. Also explain whether the cap, neck or tamper-evident area is included. This prevents different interpretations of “full coverage” and supports a more accurate review.

3. Film Preference and Product Application

If you already use a known material, provide the specification or send a sample. Haosen Packaging produces PET shrink sleeve labels and PVC shrink sleeve labels. Material selection should be reviewed against the container shape, shrinking process, end use and project requirements.

If you are unsure which material to request, do not guess. Tell us the container material, product use, expected storage conditions and how the sleeve will be applied. The suitable option remains subject to technical confirmation.

4. Quantity and SKU Breakdown

State the required quantity for each container size and each artwork version. For example, three flavours with different designs should be listed as three SKUs, even when they use the same bottle.

A useful quantity list includes:

  • product or SKU name;
  • container size;
  • artwork version or language;
  • quantity per version;
  • total expected order quantity.

This helps avoid a quote based on one combined quantity when the job actually requires several separate print versions.

5. Artwork and Printing Requirements

Send the editable artwork, dieline, logo files and colour references that are currently available. Clearly identify any barcode, ingredients, legal text or language version that is still waiting for approval.

If the final artwork is not ready, a preliminary review can begin with container photographs, dimensions, quantity and a reference design. Final printing requirements, artwork orientation, seam position and approved files must be confirmed before production.

6. Application and Supply Format

Tell us whether the sleeves will be applied manually or by an automatic sleeving line. If automatic equipment will be used, provide the machine information and any existing winding or supply requirements. Reel direction, core and packing details should be confirmed for the actual equipment rather than assumed.

7. Delivery Destination and Required Timing

Provide the destination country, city or postcode and the date by which the goods are needed. Also state whether you require samples before mass production. Sampling, production and shipping are separate stages and should be scheduled accordingly.

Typical production is approximately 5–15 days after artwork and specifications are confirmed, subject to the order schedule. Sample preparation and shipping time are confirmed separately.

Minimum Information for an Initial Review

For the fastest first response, send at least these five items:

  1. complete container photographs;
  2. container dimensions or drawing;
  3. required sleeve coverage;
  4. quantity for each SKU;
  5. destination country.

We will review the information and explain which technical or artwork details are still required before a confirmed quotation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I request a quote before the artwork is finished?

Yes. Send the available container information, dimensions, quantities and a reference design. The quotation may need to be updated after the final artwork and production specifications are confirmed.

Is the bottle capacity enough for pricing?

No. Capacity does not define the container shape or sleeve area. Clear photographs and measured dimensions are needed.

Should each flavour or language version be listed separately?

Yes. Provide the quantity for every artwork version so the quotation reflects the actual number of SKUs.

Can you recommend PET or PVC film?

We can review the choice after receiving the container shape, product application and shrinking information. The final material and specification require technical confirmation.
